Hi, I’m Katy!

I'm the maker behind Katy Made What. When I'm not working on my PhD, I can usually be found painting, sewing, illustrating, or experimenting with some new creative idea. My work ranges from mixed-media artwork and fabric pieces to handmade clothing and prints, all inspired by my love of color, texture, and whimsy. This shop is a collection of things I created to feel unique, personal, and fun to own. Thanks for supporting handmade art and small-batch creations!

My Approach

What started as a creative break from research and coursework has evolved into something bigger than I imagined. Katy Made What is built on a love of experimenting. Each piece is handmade with intention and while the mediums may change, the goal remains the same:

to create thoughtful work that brightens your day, remains mindful of the environment, and feels special to you!

Up-cycled Materials

Made with thrifted basics or scrap fabrics, my goals is to give old fabrics new life! All smalls threads and fabric scraps will be used as filling for my ornaments come Christmas time! (keep an eye out later this fall)

Personality

I love a good pun or play on words, and I love it even more when reflected in my art. With color, pattern, medium, each piece I make is a reflection of me.

Customization

I love when you want to be a part of the creative process! Let’s design something together. Share with me the item you want and some things you love, and I’ll take it from there. Click the button above or the customization tab in Shop.
